One of the hardest parts of Unplug 60 can be figuring out what to do without a screen. When you’re used to filling free time with TikTok, gaming, or endless scrolling, an unplugged hour can feel like a challenge. But once you start, you realize there’s no shortage of things you could be doing instead.

That one unplugged hour is a chance to try something new or return to something you’ve neglected. You could pick up a book you’ve been meaning to read, write in a journal, or sketch. If you’re athletic, you might spend the hour playing basketball in the driveway, running around the neighborhood, or even learning a new workout routine.

If you’re more creative, you might try baking, writing a song, or painting. Even simple activities like organizing your space, playing with your pet, or sitting outside to watch the sunset give you a break from the digital noise.

The best part is that every unplugged hour can be different. Some days you’ll be productive, other days you’ll relax, and sometimes you’ll just sit and think. That’s okay. The point isn’t to fill the time perfectly. It’s to remind yourself that life beyond screens is full of opportunities.

So the next time you unplug, think about the activities you’ve always told yourself you’d try “someday.” Let that hour turn someday into today.

Tips for Filling Your Unplug 60 Hour

  • Write down a list of hobbies or activities you’ve always wanted to try.

  • Keep a book, sketchpad, or puzzle ready for unplugged time.

  • Mix up your activities so every day feels different.

  • Choose a balance of active, creative, and relaxing options.

  • Invite a friend or family member to join your unplug hour.
